The mission of the resplendent quetzal project goes beyond this Web site. The project includes a book and high-technology products (both currently in development) devoted to the visual images of the quetzal and other neo-tropical birds and their impact on art, culture, and science, including a DVD-ROM that can be used as a textbook. The latter will provide scholarly essays by specialists in all of the relevant fields of the arts, humanities, and sciences to aid in teaching either introductory or more advanced students, as well as additional scholarly information for those working in the field. The HRC is also working on a DVD with digital film footage of the resplendent quetzal and other neo-tropical birds displaying courtship flights, eating, nesting, nurturing their young, and performing other interesting behaviors.
